NZCA - Dedicated to the positive advancement and growth of cheerleading in NZ
The New Zealand Cheerleading Association (NZCA) is New Zealand’s founding governing body. The NZCA is recognised by the International Cheer Union (ICU) as the designated governing body of cheerleading in New Zealand.
Our Story
In 2004, the NZCA was originally formed to support the development of cheerleading at a National and International level, however, in more recent years its role has developed to include education, mentoring and support to industry participants of all types. A current focus of the NZCA is to support and mentor local member gyms with practical business and coaching education in order to stimulate growth. The NZCA is recognised by the International Cheer Union (ICU) as the designated governing body of cheerleading in New Zealand. The ICU is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the positive advancement and growth of cheerleading around the world. Each year the ICU holds the World Cheerleading Championships. The NZCA has supported the formation of New Zealand’s representative teams at this event since its inception including assisting Team New Zealand to three world titles. The NZCA is currently led by President, Mrs Kimberley Ramsay-Reid and supported by Vice-President Leigh Lemmen and Secretary, Claire Stackhouse Hearn.
